Big Bus Vienna
1,5 Vienna Bus Tour
It’s your first time in a city, you haven’t got your bearings yet, but you know roughly what you want to see. But where is it all? Do you know that situation? Me too!
That’s why I always do the following at the beginning of a trip to a new city:
a) I look for something with a view as my first point of interest and/or
b) I take a hop-on hop-off bus ride!

THE TOURS
IN DETAIL
If you take the Hop-on Hop-off Ticket, you don’t have to choose between the red and blue routes! You can, of course, switch between them.
Here is an excerpt of the routes and their sights:
The red route
The red route focuses on the city centre and the Danube. Start at the Opera House (Walfischgasse). Here you can find the following museums and sights: the Graben (shopping street), the Albertina, St Stephen’s Cathedral and the House of Music, which would also be the second stop.
The route continues towards the Lower Belvedere, from where you can visit the Belvedere Palace-complex. Then it’s on towards the MuseumsQuartier, where you can find many museums – from the Leopold Museum and Mumok to the KHM-Vienna Art Museum or the famous Naschmarkt!
So many museums – now we need a change. We continue to the Hofburg station. Ok, there are also lots of museums here (for example: Sisi Museum) but also the large city park, which invites you to relax! Then it’s on to the Votivkirche and Sigmund Freud Park (even more green) and towards Schwedenplatz on the other side of the Danube. It also stops at the Danube Tower now!
The red route virtually ends at the Stadtpark. But go back to the Opera House – here you can change to the blue route!
The Blue Route
Once again, the route starts at the Opera House, but this time at the Albertina Museum! From here, however, the route first heads towards the Hofburg and the various museums: Sisi Museum, Spanish Riding School, House of Austrian History, etc. The green area with Heldenplatz and Burggarten can also be reached from here.
Then it’s back towards the MuseumsQuartier with all the art museums! But then the Blue Bus makes a U-turn and leaves the historic city centre! It heads for the Mariahilfer Straße. The highlight of this route are the Technical Museum, Schönbrunn Palace! With palace, gardens and Zoo. The Lower Belvedere and the Hundertwasserhaus are also on the route. and Lower Belvedere.
From there it’s a direct route back to the city centre.
Please note: the last departure from the palace is at 4.34 pm and it could be really crowded!
The evening
1.5 h Tour
The evening route is a mixture of the red and blue routes. Because the bus doesn’t stop all the time, you can see a lot in these 1.5 hours – even if you only drive past it.
1.5 hour Tour without Hop-on Hop-off for EUR 31
The route:
The start and stop is at the Opera (Walfischgasse 2)
Then drive past the Haus der Musik in the direction of Schönbrunn Palace. Pass the Technical Museum and take the famous Mariahilf Straße back to the centre.
There you then cycle along the various “Ring” streets, for example past the Prater and see the Ferris wheel, or along the Danube and past the Stadtpark and Rathauspark. At the Volkspark you can then see the large museum complexes of the Art history Museum (KHM) and Natur history Museum. We also pass the Karlskirche and after so many impressions, the tour is already over.
CONCLUSION
Got the urge?
Then start your adventure and discover Vienna in a relaxed way!
Have fun!
