What is there
to see?
You enter the building and walk down the stairs on a red carpet. Everything already looks “high-class” and extra-elegant! Equipped with an audio guide that is synchronised with the timeslots of the rooms, the tour begins in a room with picture frames in which the people depicted move (almost like at Hogwarts). And that’s not all! The guests decide who is in the pictures! This makes the artwork unique every time.
After about 7 minutes, a door opens, and you enter the first of a total of five rooms. We start with Mozart’s death. By candlelight (from 1,500 candles!!) and the right music (the Requiem, of course), you learn more about the early death of the “Wunderkind”. The room, like each of the following, is closed. An exit door at the end of the room opens automatically after about 5 to 10 minutes, and you can move on to the next experience. It sounds scary, but it is really well staged and secured so that you don’t have to be afraid.
In the “Vienna 1791” room, perfect video projections on the walls transport you back to the 18th century and show you how Mozart lived. It is fascinating how colourful the show is. The figures move slowly at first and then so quickly in between that you almost can’t keep your eyes open! Anyone who was previously a little apprehensive due to the gloomy atmosphere is now sure to feel enormous joy!
In the “World Music” room, you can play instruments and listen to different sounds (for the first time). There are small tablets that can be operated by the visitors. The orchestra sounds throughout the room via various loudspeakers and can be seen on a large screen.
The “Genius” room is also exciting, with strings of lights hanging from the ceiling, whose coloured light moves rhythmically to the music and reacts to touch. Various film scenes are shown on the walls in black and white. The spectacle can be enjoyed in comfort on a sofa in the centre of the room.
In the last room, “Magic Flute”, you can immerse yourself completely in the world of Mozart through the video presentation and virtually become part of it! Faces, sheet music, works of art and much more move at different speeds throughout the room and end the tour in a creative way! This is the work of new media artist Refik Anadol.
Time flies by, yet you don’t feel stressed in the individual rooms, but can enjoy each of the attractions, taking time to look and interact. Every time you open a door, you look forward to the next room and its secret!
CONCLUSION
Mythos Mozart deserves the 5 points and will delight the whole family! If you have some time beforehand, you should read up a little on the works and life of Mozart, as this will help you understand the tour even better and truly enjoy the productions.
