HET REMBRANDTHUIS
THE REMBRANDT HOUSE IN AMSTERDAM
The reconstructed house of Rembrandt is a must for Rembrandt lovers! The building has four floors and the rooms are furnished with original furniture and objects from the 17th century. Throughout the house there are numerous paintings by students and famous contemporary artists such as Ferdinand Bol, Gerbrandt van den Eeckhout, Philips Koninck and Jan Lievens. A few works by Rembrandt himself are also on display.
Attention: The Rembrandt House will be closed from November 1, 2022 to February 6, 2023 for renovation work.
My Rating
The positives:
A visit to the Rembrandt House not only gives you a great impression of how one of the Netherlands' most famous artists lived and worked, but also what life was like in Amsterdam in the 17th century.
The negatives:
If you expect many and above all well-known works by Rembrandt, you may be disappointed. Then you should rather visit the Rijksmuseum.
The objects were not used by him, they are only from the period.
