Hop-on Hop-off Bus Barcelona
When you come to a city for the first time, you don’t have any orientation yet, but you have a general idea of what you want to see. But where is all located?
Do you know this feeling? Well, I do!
That’s why I always do the following at the beginning of a trip to a new city:
a) I look for something with a view as the first sight or
b) do such a hop-on bus ride!

The Routes
in detail
Good thing is: you don’t have to choose between the routes! You can do all three of them and also change in between. However, if you buy a two-day ticket, you can also complete all routes in two days.
Here is an excerpt of the routes and their sights:
The Red Line
You start at Plaza Catalunya, the hub of Barcelona. Then take the bus along Passeig de Gracia – the promenade of the Catalans at the time – and pass two important buildings by Gaudì. The Casa Batlló and the Pedrera. Or get off and visit them!
It then continues along Avenida Diagonal towards L’Illa – a shopping center. Then pass the streets of Sants and take a look at the main train station “Estacion Sants” – very close to Camp Nou. The next highlight is the Placa Espanya! This huge roundabout is already impressive, but the view of Montjuic and the MNAC is also magnificent. From here, walk and climb the stairs to the MNAC or take the bus to the top. You will pass Olympic buildings and the Miro Museum. From here you can also take the gondola up to the Castell de Montjuic and later get back on the bus.
This will then drive you along the harbor and the sea and back towards the old town and Placa Catalunya.
The Blue Route
Again, the Placa Catalunya can be the starting point. Drive along Passeig de Gracia again – past Casa Battló and the Pedrera – but this time the bus turns right: direction Sagrada Familia! Make a sightseeing stop here or continue up through the Gracia district to Park Güell.
Do you want to go even higher? At the next bus stop you can change to the tram that will take you to Tibidabo. The little church perched high on the mountain above Barcelona.
The bus then goes to a part of Barcelona with small villas and the Pedralbes Monastery, which is a small oasis in Barcelona. It then continues past one royal palace to the next: FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou!
Finally, the bus drives back along Avenida Diagonal towards Placa Catalunya.
The Green Route
Not available right now
This is the smallest route, but of course it still has its charm. This does not start at Placa Catalunya. However, you can change trains from the Red Route at the Olympic Port. Then you continue along the sea with the green line to another shopping center (Diagonal Mar), the Forum and the Museum Blau (a natural history museum).
The bus then drives you through the Poblenou district, which is very much characterized by start-ups, and back to the Olympic port.
