Camp Nou Experience
The Home FC Barcelona
Camp Nou, the temple of FC Barcelona, is currently being remodelled and cannot be visited. The large Spotify stadium is being built, which will be state-of-the-art in terms of security and digitalisation. Construction work is scheduled to continue until 2026.
-> The Barça Museum (and the associated Camp Nou Experience), which was located in the stadium, will be housed in the nearby building under the name Barça Immersive Experience until the work is completed.
-> In the meantime, the games are being held at the Olympic Stadium on Montjuic.
My Rating:
The positives:
For fans of football, Camp Nou, FC Barcelona’s stadium, is an absolute must do sight.
The negatives:
The hefty price of at least 28 Euro! The non-fans accompanying the soccer enthusiasts will have to grit their teeth for this one.
Be aware: until 2026 there is no access to the stadium included.
Top Tip:
On-site Prices are a lot higher!

WHAT IS THERE TO SEE?
BARÇA IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE
The Barça Immersive Experience is the centrepiece of the new Barça experience and is therefore included in each of the different ticket options.
Here you are fully immersed in the club and its many facets, not only in terms of colour (everything is in blue and garnet, the club’s colours), but also in terms of atmosphere. There is also the Barça Virtual Dream, the Robokeeper and the Mirador with its spectacular view of the construction site! In this updated article, we take a closer look at all areas.
New!
BARÇA IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE
It is the centrepiece of the new Barça experience and is therefore included with each of the different ticket options. Here you are fully immersed in the club and its many facets, not only in terms of colour (everything is in blue and garnet, the club’s colours), but also in terms of atmosphere.
In a total of 10 exhibition rooms, which are designed like a tour, we learn more about the history of the club, founded in 1899 by the Swiss Hans Gamper.
In the values section, for example, we learn that FC Barcelona’s motto is “Més que un club“, or “More than a club”. Barça is also a figure of identification and a figurehead for many Catalans and their aspirations for their own state.
You may have heard of FC Barcelona’s Masia. This is the name of the club’s football boots. Until a few years ago, the students actually lived in an old country house (“masia” in Catalan), which still stands next to the Camp Nou stadium. Since 2006, however, the youth academy has been located outside Barcelona in the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
We get to know the players of the football club (first team) better via interactive screens. Thanks to club sponsor Spotify, we can even download the music that everyone has in their ears on match day.
We liked the fact that (very successful) women’s football is actually given a lot of prominence in every room. That wasn’t the case at all in the old museum.
Of course, one room is dedicated to the club’s greatest successes. The display cases are lined with well-polished trophies, with a special place given to the five Champions Leagues won.
Well done here is the wall with the different jerseys that have been used in the club’s history. The colours, the players’ names, the cut – there’s a lot to discover here!
From a distance, we hear the noise of a full football stadium and, like the players, we walk through a tunnel that opens up in the immersive space Spotify Camp Nou 360. The walls of the large room are completely covered with screens on which we see videos and images of Camp Nou, the games, the triumphs and, of course, the club’s stars. Even if this is no substitute for a visit to the stadium on a match day, it is still a successful video installation.
Finally, we look to the future and learn more about the Espai Barça project. Here it is clearly explained that the remodelling is about much more than a new stadium. It is a redesign of the neighbourhood and therefore part of a new urban planning. In addition to the renovated Camp Nou, other club buildings are also being rebuilt or remodelled: the Palau Blaugrana (multi-purpose hall), the ice rink and a hotel. It is worth mentioning here that FC Barcelona also has sections in other sports, such as basketball, handball and roller hockey.
ADD ON
BARÇA VIRTUAL DREAM
In addition to the Immersive Experience, but with a separate entrance (and only accessible with an extra ticket), you can immerse yourself virtually in the Barça world. We haven’t been here, but Barça promises that you can become the actual protagonist and, for example, slip into the role of your favourite player and discover what’s hidden in the players’ dressing room, among other things.
ADD ON
ROBOKEEPER
A goal wall for anyone who wants to take on the FC Barcelona keeper!
The Robokeeper Challenge awaits those who are brave and skilful. Show your sporting ambition on the “pitch” and try to beat the robot goalkeeper with six goal attempts. Those who are successful will not only be rewarded with pride, but also have the chance to win exciting prizes!
MIRADOR
VIEW OF THE CONSTRUCTION SITE
The viewing area of the Camp Nou construction site is open to everyone free of charge. You can sit comfortably on one of the armchairs that were reserved for the coach and substitutes in the old stadium.
During our visit in November 2023, we saw the stripped-down stadium, i.e. the structure from 1957. It’s rare to be able to see the original stadium when travelling back in time! How far advanced do you think the construction work was during your visit? Compare it with our photos!
Camp Nou
A bit of history
Camp Nou (“The New Field”) was built from 1954 to 1957, and has been used by FC Barcelona ever since. It holds 99,354 spectators, making it the largest soccer stadium in Europe. The stadium, designed by architect Francesc Mitjans, offered space for 99,354 spectators – in comparison, the Michigan Stadium holds 107,601, but that’s an American football arena. Even famous Wembley Stadium has room for “only” 90,000 fans of soccer or rugby.
Camp Nou’s opening ceremony was accompanied by Georg Friedrich Händel’s “Hallelujah”, and even the Holy Madonna, normally at home at the Abbey of Monserrat, made the trip to bestow its blessing upon the site! 10,000 doves were released into the sky, and 1,800 fans performed the Sardaña, the national dance!
One of the greatest openings of all times! Luckily, Barca then won the opening game against Legia Warsaw, the final score being 4:2.
Over the years, several expansions and remodelling projects were carried out to improve the stadium’s capacity and amenities. Significant renovations were carried out in the 1980s and the capacity increased to over 100,000 seats.
Both the stadium itself and FC Barcelona as a team hold many records. The club was founded in 1899 and has been very successful ever since. It’s an economic miracle in and of itself, and obviously, the club regularly faces off against such top teams as Bayern München, Real Madrid, and Manchester united in the Champions League.
The museum can also boast a record: for years it has been one of the most visited museums in the city (1.3 million visitors in 2022), and even in the whole of Catalonia, topped only by the Sagrada Familia.
Camp Nou has been the scene of some of the most legendary moments in football. It has hosted numerous UEFA Champions League finals, including the 1999 final, in which Manchester United turned the game around against Bayern Munich in a memorable final phase. It was also the venue for the football matches of the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
It has been undergoing renovation since June 2023. It should take three years before it shines in a new light and football fans and clubs can move in and play here again. We are excited and will be back for you in 2026!
How was it
before the works began?
Soccer, soccer, soccer – or rather: Barca! Barca! Barca!
Fans of soccer should not miss out on the opportunity: the largest soccer stadium in Europe and one of the most successful clubs in Spain should absolutely be on your list.
Even the area in front of the stadium and the lines at the ticket counters are impressive (especially during the summer months). Once you have your tickets, you can enter the museum. There are audio guides, and yes, they are available in English and in many other languages. The audio guide is not included in the admission, but you should absolutely take advantage of it. It gives a great overview of the club’s history, the exhibits at the museum and the many, many rooms and hallways you can wander along.
The museum shows the club’s history, including the jerseys and shoes of famous players, trophies, posters, and paintings. After that, take a peek at the inside of the stadium: the changing rooms (for the away teams only, though) and the press conference room. And then you’ll enter the stadium itself. There’s also a multimedia room to round off the tour.
