What is there
to see?
The Barcelona Museum of Modernism is a little gem in the middle of the city. This private foundation will show you the best that modernism has to offer!
You’ll find furniture here, such as commodes or chests of drawers as well as closets, all of which are intricately carved and decorated. The detailed work depicts snails, dragons, the Catalan bat, or female figures. Obviously, the grand master Gaudí is also represented here.
On the lower level, you’ll then find incredible modernist paintings, sculptures, and glass art. These fine works of beautiful women, landscapes, and day to day scenes will fascinate you!

A bit of History
The building itself is already a work of modern art, created in 1902. The architect is Enric Sagnier i Vilavecchia, who designed more than 300 buildings in and around Catalonia.
The museum wasn’t opened until 2010, and remains one of Barcelona’s insider tips. The collection is based on Fernando Pinós and Maria Guirao’s passion for collecting, which they cultivated throughout their marriage. This couple purchased many pieces of modernist furniture and art in the 1970s, thereby saving them from being forgotten or destroyed.
