Exhibition at the Musée Jacquemart-André

Artemisia Gentileschi was one of the most important female painters of the Baroque period. With a selection of her most impressive works, the exhibition at the Musée Jacquemart-André sheds light on her artistic career, her influence on art history and her struggle for recognition in an art world dominated by men.
The forty or so paintings on display will also include a few new attributions. There will be portraits and history paintings, works by her father Orazio Gentileschi and her role model Caravaggio.

Together they created famous works such as the Stravinsky Fountain in Paris. On display are Tinguely’s moving sculptures, the colourful ‘Nanas’ by de Saint Phalle as well as archive material, films and documentaries that illustrate their creative partnership.

What can you expect?
Through an extraordinary collection of nearly 300 works, this exhibition highlights the spectacular rise of illustrated posters in Paris during the second half of the 19th century. Designed as an immersive journey into the visual world of the era, the exhibition features works by artists such as Bonnard, Chéret, Grasset, Mucha, Steinlen, and Toulouse-Lautrec. It paints a picture of the golden age of artistic posters while analysing the social and cultural shifts that influenced their development. In addition to posters, the exhibition also presents paintings, photographs, costumes, sculptures, and decorative objects. The show is a collaboration with the Bibliothèque nationale de France.

This exhibition sheds light on the artistic collaboration between Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely, two important figures in modern art. On display are Tinguely’s moving sculptures, the colourful ‘Nanas’ by de Saint Phalle as well as archive material, films and documentaries that illustrate their creative partnership.
